Welcome to my builders page. This is where I attempt to document my construction of a Cozy Mark IV aircraft to comply with the FAA requirements. The community online support for this project is amazing and I am very grateful for all of the help I receive.

In August 2008 I started building this project in my garage. The beauty of this project is that I can spread out the work and cost to my own pace so I will not be overwhelmed with expenses.... spread out over a decade the cost isnt too bad. At this time I am estimating a 10-12 year build but we will see how the work flows. I am making some modifications to my plane to make it unique for me.

First of all I am adding 4" to the width of my cozy. I am 6'2'' and weigh 200lbs. The designer was significantly smaller than I am and I want more shoulder room. I have sat in a standard cozy and with 2 people in the plane it lives up to its name.

My initial thought was to go with the Mazda Rotary engine, however since the primary support structure for the aviation adaptation of that engine retired I went out and picked up a Lycoming IO-540 for the power plant.

All other modifications are documented in the pages and I will detail them chapter by chapter. I am open to feedback or just to chat about my project at smithdusting@yahoo.com
